WWE’s Money in the Bank show comes to us live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV on Sunday night. With the brand extension on the horizon, tonight’s show is sure to be newsworthy.
Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE World Title.
WWE is in serious need of a boost in ratings for their flagship show, RAW. There is only one way I see this happening, and that's pulling the trigger on a double turn. Having Roman Reigns win in a disputed way is the easiest way to keep the title on him while also protecting Seth Rollins. I don't think it's time to tease a title split here, there's still time to tell that story. This is also the perfect time to turn Dean Ambrose heel. Therefore, my prediction is Dean Ambrose helps Roman Reigns keep the title in true heel fashion. After the match Seth Rollins suffers a beatdown from the two focusing on his reconstructed knee.
Winner: Roman Reigns
John Cena vs. A.J. Styles.
A.J. Styles has to win this match. After losing high profile matches to Chris Jericho at WrestleMania and Roman Reigns at both Payback and Extreme Rules, Styles needs a meaningful win in a big way. I expect both men to put on amazing performances and this be the match of the night.
Winner: A.J. Styles
Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Sami Zayn vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Cesaro in a Ladder Match for the Money in the Bank briefcase.
WWE wants you to think Dean Ambrose is winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, but he's not. Instead, Ambrose will play a big role in the WWE World Title Match as referenced above. Chris Jericho has never won a Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and with his summer schedule outside of WWE I don't see him winning it this year either. A win here by Sami Zayn doesn't fit the story WWE is telling with him, so he's not winning.
Something tells me they're flipping Cesaro. If that's the case he’ll be tied up feuding with Sami Zayn coming out of tonight's show. Alberto Del Rio is interesting. If WWE wants to get a return on their Del Rio investment, I can see them giving him the briefcase. However, that's a big “if;” and because of that I'm going with one of, if not, the best heels and talkers in the company, Kevin Owens. The thought of Owens walking around with the briefcase puts a smile on my face, not to mention the amazing promos he'll be able to cut.
Winner: Kevin Owens
Dark horse: Alberto Del Rio
Rusev vs. Titus O’Neil for the WWE U.S. Title.
Rusev has to win this match if WWE ever wants the U.S. title to mean anything. I just hope WWE doesn't feel the need to give Titus the title as a sort of “make good” due to his suspension. By the way, what did Titus O’Neil do to deserve a title shot?
New Day vs. the Club (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. The Vaudevillians in a Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE Tag Team Titles.
My hope is for WWE to hold off on putting the belts on Gallows and Anderson until we can see them face New Day in a straight-up match. I'd rather see the spotlight be put on the two tag teams with the Club members going over clean. I expect New Day to pin one of the Vaudevillians, protecting Enzo & Cass and the Club. On RAW tomorrow night we’ll get Gallows and Anderson challenging New Day for the belts, and Enzo and Cass will seek revenge on the Vaudevillians for injuring Enzo.
Winners: New Day
Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs. Natalya & Becky Lynch.
Unfortunately WWE has done a poor job of making me care about this match. The Women's Division is in a free fall with no storyline direction whatsoever. Regardless of which team wins, will it even be remembered on RAW?
Winners: Natalya & Becky Lynch
Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews.
This won't be the last time we see this match. I fully expect this feud to continue after tonight; therefore, it needs to end by DQ. Apollo Crews will be getting the best of Sheamus, thus forcing Sheamus to get himself disqualified. After the match Sheamus beats Crews down.
Winner: Apollo Crews
Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin.
Please, please make it stop.
Winner: Baron Corbin
The Dudleys vs. the Lucha Dragons.
The Dudleys are a non-factor. The Lucha Dragons are over with the kids. After the match we see signs of the Dudleys splitting up.
Winners: Lucha Dragons
Goldust & R-Truth vs. Fandango & Tyler Breeze.
These two teams are a guilty pleasure of mine. In yet another feud that never ends, I don't expect this to be the last time we see these two teams face each other. Therefore, it's still not time for Golden Truth to get their win.
Winners: Fandango and Tyler Breeze
Enjoy the show!
