Disclaimer: The following predictions are made primarily from a fans perspective. The predictions are how I want the finishes to go, which will make the the PPV and the product most enjoyable for me going forward.
WWE Fastlane comes to us from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. Fastlane is the last stop on the road to Wrestle Mania.
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose for a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Mania 32.
The WWE has gone out of their way to make us think Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar have a chance of winning here. That being said, I do not want to see Roman Reigns take on Triple H at Wrestle Mania for the World Heavyweight Championship. Roman Reigns should not win this match. Brock Lesnar or Dean Ambrose should win, preferably Lesnar, but I won’t complain if it’s Ambrose. There are so many more compelling stories to tell with a heel Roman Reigns than there is with a babyface champion Reigns. I know WWE is hell bent on making Reigns the face of the company, but this fan is not in favor of it. I want to see Lesnar win and Reigns turn heel. Lesnar goes on to fight Triple H at Wrestle Mania. A heel Reigns can fued with Ambrose, A.J. Styles, a returning John Cena, Cessaro and the Undertaker.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
A.J. Styles vs. Chris Jericho.
I’m a big Jericho fan and I usually want him to win every match he’s in. I enjoy all of his comebacks, and I also like the fact he works with the younger talents whenever he does come back. This third match in the trilogy will be their best. I’m looking forward to a great back and forth match evenly contested until the end when A.J. Styles hits Jericho with the Styles Clash. I want to see Styles get a strong push heading into Wrestle Mania and that push has to start here by beating Chris Jericho.
Winner: A.J. Styles
The Wyatts (Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman with Bray Wyatt) vs. Kane, Ryback and The Big Show.
This is probably the easiest match to predict. Bray Wyatt continues to be one of my favorite talents on the WWE roster. I keep waiting/hoping for WWE to make him a main eventer. The upside of the Wyatts is far greater than the trio of Big Show, Ryback and Kane. The Wyatt family gets the win and Bray Wyatt transitions into a higher profile match on the road to Wrestle Mania.
Winner: The Wyatts
Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship.
I don’t care who wins this match, I just want this feud to end. Actually I do care who wins this match. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a big fan of Dolph Ziggler. I enjoy his work inside the ring but his character leaves a lot to be desired. On the other hand, I really like Kevin Owens. Like Bray Wyatt, I really hope the WWE moves Owens into the main event scene. These are two wrestlers heading in opposite directions. I wasn’t a fan of the WWE making it look like Ziggler is on the same level as Owens like they’re matches on Raw showed, so I’m looking for WWE to give Kevin Owens a decisive win over Ziggler, end the fued and move Owens into a higher spot on the card heading into Wrestle Mania.
Winner: Kevin Owens
Charlotte (with Ric Flair) vs. Brie Bella for the Divas Championship.
Charlotte has to win this match. I’m really enjoying her work and I hope the WWE keeps the belt on her at least until next years Wrestle Mania. I prefer Charlotte wrestle the likes of Becky Lynch, Paige, Natayla and Sasha Banks. Brie Bella had her time and I don’t want to see WWE give her one more title reign because she’s retiring this summer.
Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch vs. Naomi and Tamina
This is another match that’s easy to predict. There is absolutely no reason for Naomi and Tamina to win here. Sasha is clearly heading up the card to fued with Charlotte heading into Wrestle Mania. A Becky Lynch vs. Paige fued is something I’d be happy with.
Winner: Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch
Pre-show: Kalisto vs. Alberto Del Rio for the U.S. Championship in a best-of-three falls match.
I like the U.S. Championship belt on Kalisto and feel there’s no reason to take it off of him here. Alberto Del Rio isn’t clicking and putting the belt back on him isn’t going to change matters. Break ADR off of the lame faction and build him up as a strong heel. Right now I don’t see where ADR fits in on the road to Wrestle Mania. Maybe on Raw the next day is the best time to refocus on him. I’d love to see WWE bring back the Open Challenge and have Kalisto defend the belt proving he’s a Fighting Champion.
Winner: Kalisto two falls to one
Enjoy the show!
