Ross hopes to have his autobiography completed in time for a 2017 release. His book will be filled with tons of stories, life experiences, and professional experiences of a lifelong pro wrestling fan. (Fighting Champion Response: JR’s autobiography falls onto my must read list of books. I am really looking forward to hearing Ross’ stories.)
JR mentions the endless discussion regarding the WWE brand split and expects that there will be plenty of second guessing by fans once the Draft happens. He says WWE is damned if they do and damned if they don’t when it comes to the Draft.
JR recalls the last time he was broadcasting in Green Bay was the night Donald Trump was there. Jim remembers having a positive conservation with Trump and he never took off his cashmere overcoat the entire night.
Jim does not think John Cena needs to be in the Money in the Bank Match. (FC Response: I am with Ross on this one. Keep Cena away from the WWE Heavyweight Title for now.)
He would love to see WWE do a two hour, or more Draft Show on the WWE Network to make it as special as possible. He thinks in order to make the brand separation and SmackDown going live on Tuesdays feel big league is to produce a big league Draft Day broadcast. (FC Response: A Draft Special on the WWE Network would be great. I’d love to see them base it on the NFL draft. It makes all the sense in the world, but unfortunately I don’t see it happening due to Vince’s lack of sports knowledge.)
Jim thinks this is a prime opportunity to move Corey Graves over to SmackDown with Lawler and Ranallo. (FC Response: Yes, please.)
28 years ago Ross was in Houston for the tournament to crown the first ever UWF Champion after Bill Watts changed the name from Mid South Wrestling to the Universal Wrestling Federation. The tournament had seven WWE Hall of Famers in it; eight if you count Jim Ross. (FC Response: Back then I was more of an AWA fan.)
Ross found the Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet match to be a uniquely told story with an abundance of athleticism, high risk move sets and, most of all, great passion.
JR has no idea who Chris Jericho was referring to in a recent tweet when speaking of former WWE writers appearing on other podcasts as “hack podcast.” Fans insist he was dissing the Ross Report, Jim strongly disagrees.
Consider buying one of JR’s limited edition tees, GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY, from www.represent.com/jimross to help support Headlock on Hunger.
He has been working on the cards for the July 16-17 weekend in Oklahoma highlighted by the OklaMania in OKC on Sunday. The talents are from the indies, ROH, TNA IMPACT Wrestling and the NWA.
Jim asks for positive thoughts for George “The Animal” Steele who is undergoing serious health issues. (FC Response: Thoughts and prayers to Jim Meyers and his family.)
JR has a lot to say regarding the news coming of Waco, Texas and Baylor University. I encourage you to read his thoughts on the matter as I agree with everything he said.
As always Ross goes into more detail in his blog. He goes into much further detail on the UWF tournament and the Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet match.
