Bellator 156 is live from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA on Friday night. Bantamweights Eduardo Dantas and Marcos Galvao square off for the second time for the title. The first time they fought it was Dantas getting the knockout win while retaining his title. Since then, Dantas lost the belt to Joe Warren , who then lost it to Galvao.
The co-main event features Chidi Njokuani, as he goes up against late step-in Thiago Goncalves. Former middleweight champion Brandon Halsey takes on John Salter, and staying in the middleweight division, Chris Honeycutt looks to take the next step to a title fight against Mikkel Parlo.
Since the last time Eduardo Dantas and Marcos Galvao met, Dantas has gone 2-1 with wins over Anthony Leone and Mike Richman with the loss coming at the hands of Joe Warren. Galvao has gone 4-0 in the same time span with his biggest win coming against Warren where he captured the title. Both fighters have been out of action for over a year, which makes the fight difficult to predict. Dantas relied on his striking to beat Galvao in their first fight and if he can keep the fight standing I see the same result here. Galvao holds the advantage over Dantas in the ground game so should he get the fight to the ground I see Marcos reversing his fortunes from their first encounter.
Eduardo Dantas (17-4) vs. Marcos Galvao (17-6-1) | Current Line: Dantas -250, Galvao +200 | Pick: Dantas by decision
Chidi Njokuani (14-4) vs. Thiago Goncalves (18-4) | Current Line: Njokuani -275, Goncalves +225 | Pick: Njokuani by decision
